Insulation Removal Process

Insulation Removal

Professional Insulation Removal • Prevent Spread of Allergens, Mold and Mildew

Before new insulation can be installed, it’s recommended that old, soiled, ineffective, or compressed insulation be completely removed. Old insulation can harbor pests, dirt, allergens and mold spores. Aging attic insulation settles over time, reducing its ability to slow heat transfer, causing hot, uncomfortable rooms in the summer and cold rooms in the winter.

One of the most important reasons to remove old insulation is to achieve proper and thorough air sealing. Removing the old insulation exposes all penetrations between living spaces, crawl spaces, and attics for proper air sealing. Air sealing these tiny gaps prevents warm, moisture-laden air from entering the cold attic or crawlspace and causing condensation. Condensation will cause mold, eventually breaking down the integrity of organic materials, such as wood.

Safe Home Resource has the advanced training and tools to identify mold, moisture, air leaks, critter access, and thermal inefficiencies. With tools like a blower door, thermal cameras, fogger, smoke sticks, thermal hygrometer, and more, we can properly diagnose issues and ensure the installation of a properly upgraded thermal envelope when we’re done.

Once the area is properly treated, dried and sealed, Safe Home Resource can safely install your new insulation to the highest standards of quality and safety.
